Sunshine, Serenity & So Much S’more:
A Fabulous Day at the Lincolnshire Sleep Hub’s Wellbeing to Sleep Well Event!

What do you get when you mix mindfulness, marshmallows, and magical garden vibes? A truly unforgettable day, of course! On Wednesday 9th July, the Lincolnshire Sleep Hub, in proud partnership with Green Synergy, hosted the Wellbeing to Sleep Well event in the stunning Hillside Community Garden in Lincoln—and what a beautiful day it was.

With over 50 people attending, the event was blessed with glorious weather, creating the perfect backdrop for a day of rest, relaxation, and rediscovery.

Taking a well deserved rest. The Green Synergy staff and volunteers worked so hard. Thank you for sharing our vision for such a fabulous day.

A Garden of Calm, Connection, and Community

An abundance of lavender

From the moment guests arrived, there was a sense that something special was happening. Greeted with refreshments and sunshine, attendees could meander through the lush garden paths or dive into a packed schedule designed to support adults and carers across Lincolnshire with practical and holistic sleep support.

Wellness Wonders in Every Corner

The garden buzzed with activity:

🌸 To start the day, Stuart Couling led a grounding mindfulness session, followed by a calming walk and meditation through the natural beauty of the garden taking time to take in the texture and smells of the garden and ground with nature. A true moment of pause which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Stuart offered a great tip; when things become overwhelming, try this STOP method:

Stuart Couling lead a fabulous mindful practice and walk.

S – Stop! Just Stop.

T -Take a deep breath, then take another

O – Observe- your thoughts, whatever you are thinking

P – Proceed with something helpful. Go well

🌿 Barbara Bond brought balance and energy with her soothing QiGong session balancing mind, body and spirit through gentle movement, breathing techniques and meditation followed by Shiatsu massage Often used to improve health, reduce stress and promote overall wellbeing, this went down really well with attendees.

A soundbath in perfect surroundings to complete the day.

🔔 A gentle sound bath from Peter Ison immersed the group in rich, resonating tones, of singing bowls, gongs, and chimes washing away tension and encouraging a meditative state, to help relaxation, reduce stress, and promote a sense of well-being.

🎨 Throughout the day, the arts and crafts corner blossomed with creativity, offering a serene retreat with a variety of engaging, and mindful activities, and not forgetting the fabulous Amy from Development Plus who provided homemade cakes which attendees could decorate. Participants immersed themselves in the soothing process of crafting lavender wands (which smelt divine), colouring their personalised tote bags to carry home their crafts and goodies. Each activity provided an opportunity to reconnect with nature and express individuality through hands-on creation.

🥁Adding rhythm to the day, SoundLINCS brought people together with an energising drumming workshop, leaving everyone smiling and tapping to the beat.

🔥 And let’s not forget the fire pit—Brian the ‘Bear Grylls’ of The Sleep Charity was in his element, helping guests indulge in Brian-style “posh” marshmallows (aka s’mores): lovingly toasted marshmallows sandwiched between chocolate Hobnobs (yes, you read that right—chocolate Hobnobs. Pure bliss).

A Sleep-Filled Purpose

At its heart, the event was all about sleep—more specifically, empowering people with the tools, support, and knowledge they need to sleep well and live well. One of the key messages of the day was that what you do during the day can have a powerful impact on how well you sleep at night. By nurturing your daytime wellbeing—through movement, mindfulness, creativity, and connection—you set the stage for more restful, restorative sleep.

Guests left not just relaxed but inspired, with goody bags, helpful resources, and expert advice to take home and put into practice.

A Huge Success

The feedback? Glowing. From laughter around the fire pit to quiet reflection during mindfulness, every guest found something that resonated. And most importantly, they left feeling seen, supported, and hopeful. We want to extend special thanks to everyone who helped make this magical day possible.

Here’s to more days like this—where wellbeing is celebrated, community is nurtured, and sleep is finally something we can all dream of mastering.
