What is a Sleep Talker?

A Sleep Talker is a volunteer or professional trained to recognise sleep problems and be able to offer hints and tips on how to get a better night’s sleep. In Lincolnshire we will provide FREE CPD accredited training to facilitate support for carers during our first year.

Who is the Sleep Talkers Training for?

Professional carers

Sleep is often an issue for those who care be it a shift worker, regular night or the sheer exhaustion from the job. Having a Sleep Talker in the organisation will ensure that your staff are supported.

Community connectors & professionals

The network and the services you provide will be enhanced with Sleep Talker knowledge and support.

Befrienders

Offering vital support and encouragement to carers. As a Sleep Talker you will be able to offer practical advice and support to those who feel sleep is impacted by their situation.

Organisations supporting carers

Professional or unpaid carers if your organisation supports carers we will offer the training to enhance the service you provide.

Volunteers

We are delighted to offer the Sleep Talker Training to volunteers who support those in a caring role.

Why are we focusing on carers?

As unsung heroes, carers are often sleep deprived.

97.3% of the carers we interviewed stated they do not feel well rested on waking and 85% of them reported getting less than 5 hours sleep per night.

At The Sleep Charity we recognise that their wellbeing is of paramount importance regardless if they care for love or money, as an unpaid or paid carer. Let’s offer a meaningful conversation, solutions and support.

What to expect

Training is delivered as a train the trainer format to ensure the Sleep Talker role can be cascaded across the region and with your colleagues.

The day’s training is presented either face to face or online to fit in your organisation’s requirements.
