Sleeptember: Supporting better sleep for women
September is Sleeptember, The Sleep Charity’s annual campaign highlighting the importance of good sleep and sharing practical advice to help people sleep better.
This year, Sleeptember is shining a spotlight on women’s sleep, recognising that sleep can change throughout life. Hormonal changes, busy family and working lives, stress and the menopause can all have an impact on how well we sleep.
For women going through menopause, symptoms such as night sweats, hot flushes, anxiety and changes in mood can make getting a good night’s sleep particularly challenging. Poor sleep can then have an impact on how we feel and function during the day, creating a frustrating cycle.
The good news is that there are simple things that can help. A consistent evening routine, creating a comfortable bedroom environment, finding ways to manage stress and being mindful of what we eat and drink can all support healthier sleep habits.
To support women during Sleeptember, The Sleep Charity has created a free resource pack packed with practical information and simple ideas to help you make positive changes to your sleep. It includes an evening routine guide, cooling bedroom checklist, sleep diary, nutrition tips and advice for reducing stress.
Whether you’re struggling with your sleep or simply want to understand it better, the resources are designed to give you practical steps you can try at home.
